Day 1 -
Hike 5 miles from main part of Amicalola Falls State Park to Len Foote Hike Inn
Take the ecco "LEED" and "worm" tour given by Gwenn
Saw great Sun Set
Very Clear Stars in the sky
We spent the night at Len Foote Hike Inn
One building had guest rooms and common check-in area heated by wood stove.
The next building down the steps was the "bath" house with toilets that "fed the worm bed"
The next building down was the mess hall - with very good food... and another set of "worm beds".
The next building down was the "game room" with board games.... great view....
Hot upper bunk and a cool lower bunk in the same room thanks to a heating panel with no air flow. .
High was around lower mid 40s and low was around 28.
Day 2 - Hike from Len Foote Hike Inn to main part of Amicalola Falls state Park
Hiked back the same 5 miles.
Then Walked the steps by the falls.
425 steps from top of bridge
125 steps from bridge to bottom.
Then back up all 600 steps.
Saw the park ranger from the day before who had just quit chain smoking and was "pooped on" by a snake.
Same ranger said he did not hike much?!?!?
Spent the night at the The Lodge at Amicalola Falls State Park
Nice Staff
Great View
Next time we plan to skip their restaurant and bring our
own food.
Day 3-
We slept in and headed home.... but stopped at Slopes BBQ on the way home... Yum!!!
